Counselling
What is Counselling?
Counselling provides a confidential, safe and non – judgemental environment in which you can talk through any issues causing you difficulties or concern.
Counselling can help you make better sense of your feelings, help you make changes in your life, or help you come to terms with things that can’t be changed. It can help bring to surface feelings and issues that you have long forgotten, or didn’t realise were causing you distress.
Why do people come for therapy?
There are many reasons why people choose Counselling, some of these may include:
Anxiety, Depression, Low Self Esteem, Bereavement and Loss, Anger Issues, Stress, Relationship Issues, Body image, Sexuality,, Phobias, Self-harm, Abuse, Personal development, Health related issues, Work related issues to name a few. However, sometimes they don’t know why they have come to Counselling, knowing only that they don’t feel themselves at the moment and need help getting some clarity.
How do I work?
I am a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor. This means that first and foremost I believe in people and their ability to change and heal. Secondly being Integrative means I can access other forms of therapy and add them to my `tool box`.
Being able to pull on other approaches allows me to tailor the sessions around each individual making it a person centered focus. No one person is the same and therefore no one session will ever be the same.
I also use psychoeducation within my practice and believe that everyone should have the power of knowledge, therefore sharing tips and techniques with my clients is a must. Some of these may include: Mindfulness, Timelines, and Fear Ladders, Ialso like to share reading material where appropriate.
